Liturgical Colours for Catholics

Green for ordinary time

Purple for Advent and Lent

Red for Feast Days and Pentecost

White – used at Christmas and Easter as well as for the sacrament of baptism symbolized purity – as it does in so many other systems of belief.

Purple— the colour of Kingship and refers to the Passion of Jesus.

Red — symbolizes the Blood shed by martyrs and that is why it is used to commemorate Saints’ Feast days.  It is also used for Pentecost which is considered the Birthday of the faith.
